Bringing the latest mint error news to the collector. Also featuring Die Trials, Patterns, Test Pieces, Numismatic Rarities, Currency Errors and Discoveries from the U.S. Mint.
The uspatterns.com website has added a Mint Error Section. This website is dedicated to the study of
patterns, die trials and experimental pieces. This new Mint Error Section has been divided into two pages. The first page displays patterns which are major mint errors (striking errors) and the second contains pieces which were often thought to be patterns but are actually mint errors instead.
The Mint Error page describes pieces originally listed as patterns in the literature such as the Judd book but are in reality Mint Errors. Examples include Indian cents struck on nickel planchets and shield nickels struck on cent planchets. Each mint error or class of mint errors is illustrated on its own page and often includes pedigree information.
