Overstruck on a 1970 Quarter
1971 Washington Quarter -- Double Struck on a 1970 Washington Quarter -- MS64 NGC. An extremely rare error type with a Washington quarter overstruck on a struck quarter of a different date. In this case, it is a 1971 quarter overstruck on the 1970 coin. The host coin's reverse undertype appears throughout the obverse, and its obverse undertype appear throughout the reverse. The date of the 1970 host coin can be seen between the eagle's right (facing) wing and the rim. Delicate champagne luster complements satiny luster on each side, with overall pleasing eye appeal and bold primary strike.
