The Canada Two Dollar Polar bear bi-metallic circulating coin was struck from 1996 to 2003.

This 1996 Two Dollar is a planchet error having an outer ring that was incorrectly punched. This resulted in the obvious misaligned center core when both components were joined. While this combination of major errors is highly collectable there is more than meets the eye.

Upon closer inspection we see a second attempted punch of the ring that is incomplete. The semi-circular incomplete punch is observable on both the obverse and reverse. The resulting scaring is seen above the effigy of the Queen on the obverse and above the Polar bear on the reverse.

After studying and collecting bi-metallic error coins from over the world the last two decades this is the only example I've encountered having an incomplete punch!
