Double Denomination Montana Quarter Struck On A Nickel
This 2007-D Montana statehood quarter struck on a struck 2007-D nickel is the only known Montana double denomination error. It is one of the only three known statehood quarters struck on a struck nickel. There were more than 34 billion statehood quarters produced in the 50 State Quarter Program making this error extremely rare.
The reverse of the struck nickel can be seen across the bison skull on the Montana quarter. The nickel's date of 2007 D can be lightly seen on the obverse of the Montana quarter making this even more collectable as a double dated double denomination 30 cent piece.
